the appartment

a couple of days ago I posted a closeup of what I thought the safe place, that Lee stays in at the beginning of the game, could look like. With the quick snapshot I just wanted to sketch a feeling while I was in it. This time I wanted to go a bit more in debth with what I wanted from the place.

This particular environment is the start of the game. Whenever the appartment building becomes to much for Lee, she will return to this place and take comfort in its warmth. One of the things that I was going for with this particular drawing was, that it should it should be welcomming, but it shouldn’t quite feel like home. I wanted it to feel kind of like a hotel lobby or a doctors waiting room, a great holding aria, but maybe not somewhere you want to spend to long.

With this I am hoping to give the player a sense of alianation, that even the “safe” aria is stale and uncomfortable.

I feel like there is still allot of room for groth in this particular setup, but I think I have a good start, and I finally have my first real piece of concept art, so yay for me.
